We caught up with the Denman Ulster Shield group match between Portadown and Lisnagarvey on Wednesday evening at Edenvilla.

Portadown got off to the best of starts with a 1st minute goal from Emma McEntee who rifled one in from the edge of the circle for a 1 – 0 lead.

It took Garvey a while to recover, but it was a fairly even game by the end of the first quarter with no further goals.

Both teams seemed to have plenty of room for a few runs in the middle third but the defences were dominating the final third and we went into halftime with Portadown still defending the single goal lead.
