Women Six Nations: Ireland 3 France 53

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

Covering Saturday’s Women’s Six Nations game in Musgrave Park was a great excuse to have a long weekend in Cork.

I don’t think anyone present expected a win, but having lost heavily, 31-5, the previous Saturday in Cardiff, it was important to put in a performance against a physical, well drilled French side.

Ireland started promisingly with a few big forward carries but were knocked back by an uncompromising French defence. Gradually the French turned the screw. In the 9th minute they mauled over the line for a 5-0 lead. Only 4 minutes later took advantage of a wicked bounce, on the artificial surface to claim France’s 2nd try.

Bourdon was on hand 4 minutes later to claim her 2nd try, following a charge down. Following a slick passing movement touched down, after 37 minutes to leave France 27-3 to the good, at halftime.

Agathe Sochat goes over for France.

After the break Ireland contained France, but without really creating anything themselves. On 55 minutes a line out maul marched forward, before found a gap to score between 2 defenders. Bourgeois converted for a 34-3 lead.

Cyrielle Banet slides home for a try for France.

In the 59th minute ran round the tiring Irish defence to score in the corner for 39-3.

Oh dear!

In the 70th minute had brain fade and pulled Banet’s flowing locks, attempting to tackle her and saw yellow.

A minute later Vernier claimed her 2nd try, running in on the right. converted, and France were 46-3 up.

There was time for one more score. An Irish scrum disintegrated under their posts and drove over. Tremouliere added the points for 53-3.

France ran out convincing winners on the back of a big 53-3 bonus point win. Ireland played with a passion and commitment, not seen in the Welsh game and for periods held their own against a dominant French side.
