Irish Senior Cup: Queen’s University 3 Pembroke Wanderers 1

On Saturday lunchtime Queen’s University faced Pembroke Wanderers in an Irish Senior Cup tie at The Dub. I arrived at the start of the 2nd quarter. The south Belfast traffic was a lottery with the weekend closure of Milltown Road.

Jodie Simmons opened the scoring for Queens

Queens had taken a 2 – 0 1st quarter lead with goals from Jodie Simmons, 2 mins, and Anna McKew, 17 mins.

For all of Queens 2nd quarter pressure they couldn’t convert chances and halftime was reached with Queens leading 2-0.

Only saves from the Pembroke keeper kept her goal intact in the 3rd quarter. Though Pembroke had moments in front of goal Queens were on top. The 3rd quarter ended 2 – 0 to Queens.

With 6 minutes to go Pembroke subbed out their keeper in an effort to score.
