Women’s All Ireland: Portadown 3 Ulster University Elks 0

We caught up with the cracking clash between Portadown and Ulster University Elks in the Women’s All Ireland Hockey League fixture on Sunday afternoon at Edenvilla.

This was high quality entertainment from start to finish as Portadown set the tempo in a hectic first quarter.

Lara Wilson has an early sighter for Portadown.

The home team pepperd the Elks defence throughout the opening exchanges but they were unable to find a way past the formidable Gemma Ferguson who had a tremendous first half.

Things slowed down a touch in the second half giving the Elks the opportunity to create a few chances but Ferguson was still the busier of the two keepers, her interventions ensuring the game was still tied at 0 – 0 as the teams changed ends.
