I caught up with most of the Junior Shield match between Academy and Ards at Roughfort on Saturday afternoon.

I was looking forward to this one after a re-fix but the change of time didn’t suit Academy who were down a few of their front line players for this one.

Despite that Academy were 8 points up before I had properly settled in position at the start of the game. The points came from a Harry Warke penalty and a Nik Kane try in the first seven minutes.

Ards got into the game just before the 15 minute mark with Joel DePledge getting over for a try converted by Angus Christie which took the score to 8 – 7.
