I caught up with the Gordon West Cup match between Belfast Harlequins 2nd XV and Larne RFC at Deramore Park on Saturday afternoon.
I was a touch late getting to this one and when I arrived Quins were leading 5 – 0 and they scored again, before I got set up, with Patrick Hall touching down for Luke Graham to convert to take the score to 12 – 0.
Things didn’t improve much for Larne as the first half progressed as Quins Ross Bowlan ran in two more tries, both converted by Graham, to take the score to 24 – 0 just past the half hour mark.
Larne gave themselves a glimpse of a chance with a Ian McIlheron score in the corner just before the break to take the score to 24 – 5 at half time.
