Thoroughly cold and wet after the hockey at Deramore I squelched over to the rugby pitch for the All Ireland 2B encounter between Quins and Wanderers with Quins looking for a win to halt a disappointing run of results.
Unfortunately the match didn’t go their way with the home teams defence exposed pretty much from the kick off as a series of fumbles saw Wanderers return it with interest for their centre Martin O’Neill to open the scoring out on the right to take the score to 0 – 5 after a minute.

Quins had a chance to pull three points back shortly after but the penalty was scuffed wide and despite a sustained period of pressure from the home side they couldn’t break down the visitors . . .
