It’s a particularly competitive Ulster Hockey Women’s Premiership this season so after covering leaders Queen’s University we decided to a look at the competition as 3rd placed Belfast Harlequins welcomed second place Ards to a wet and windy Deramore Park for a Saturday lunchtime fixture.
Despite the terrible conditions it was a very entertaining game. Quins started strongly and an advantage play saw Ella Latuske in enough space to round keeper Naomi McKnight and slot in the opening goal for a 1 – 0 lead.

The lead didn’t last long as Ards replied before I’d written down the scorer details with Ali Carson pulling in back to 1 – 1 within a minute.
