2021-09-25 Old Alexandra 1 Loreto 4 EYHL Women

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

I arrived at Alexandra College at 1:15 pm on my whistle-stop tour of Dublin on Saturday. However, it took me another 20 minutes to find the entrance to the playing fields and the game was underway when I finally took up my position at the end of the pitch.

The game was scoreless at that point but Loreto were on the attack, driven on by captain Sarah Torrens, and that was pretty much the state of play for the bulk of the half hour that I was there.

Loreto’s Sarah Torrens drives her team on in the first half

As a newcomer to hockey, I must say it was a very impressive all field press that Loreto were playing, harrying their opponents at every opportunity and breaking quickly with, Ireland U19 star, and Siofra O’Brien prominent in attack.

Aisling Murray was prominent in attack for Loreto.

Alex withstood the early pressure with working particularly hard across the back line alongside and keeper , all three making timely interventions as the first quarter ended scoreless.

Loreto got their breakthrough on the 21st minute with youngster latching on to a loose back pass to coolly round the keeper and slide the ball home. Loreto continued to press for the remainder of the half but there was no further score before I had to leave for my next game.

Rebecca Fitzpatrick opened the scoring as Loreto turn on the style to record a convincing win at Old Alex on Saturday afternoon.

In the second half Loreto added three more goals through Sarah Torrens, O’Brien and with Alex responding through a goal from for a final score of 1 – 4 in Loreto’s favour.
