As I was already at the Dub for the early kick off hockey match it would have been rude not to take in some of the McCrea Cup quarter final between Queen’s 2nd XV and CIYMS on the Arena pitch.
CIYMS started the game in a confident mood with some deft kicking from their out half and the classy Michael Lawton at full back. Lawton added a penalty after 10 minutes to give CI a deserved 3 – 0 lead.

Unfortunately for the visitors the powerful Queen’s side began to take control and with the enthusiastic Angus Christie sniping away from scrum half the students took the lead at the end of the first quarter with a try from Will Cusack
