We caught the second half of a humdinger of a game as Instonians entertained Cooke at Shaws Bridge in the Quarter Final of the McCrea Cup.
By the time we’d arrived Cooke had worked their way into a 15 – 24 lead at half time with Falemaka Vave scoring the last try of the first half just as I arrived.
Instonians started the second half strongly and after a period of pressure Ali Burke broke for the line for a converted try that took the score to 22 – 24 five minutes in.
Cooke pulled their lead out to five points with a penalty, four minutes later, before a try from Bevan Prinsloo leveled the game at 27 all.
In a feisty final quarter a successful penalty and a second try from Prinsloo pulled the score out to 27 – 35 for Instonians to progress to the semi final of the McCrea Cup at the expense of their closest rivals.
