Interprovincial: Connacht Eagles 19 Ulster A 19

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

Ulster A’s third “Covid Interprovincial” ended in a draw at The Sportground on a bright and sunny Friday afternoon.

A bright and sunny Friday afternoon in Galway in December is probably the biggest surprise about this one, especially as it was tipping out of the heavens here in lovely Larne, Gateway to the North, while I was following the updates on twitter.

From my preview I reckoned this would be tight (I also reckoned it would be tipping down 🙂 ) mainly because Connacht appeared to be using the match to give a few “slightly” more experienced players a bit of a run. I also reckoned that Ulster’s exciting back three might cut loose in this one but, over the last two games, the only one who’s appears to be cutting loose is “wonderkid” who grabbed a brace in this one and second row . Both crossed last time out against Munster.

Connacht Eagles (7) 19

TRY: , ,

CON: (2)

Ulster A (7) 19

TRY: Cormac Izuchukwu, Aaron Sexton (2)

CON: (2)

The brief match details are as follows.

Ulster opened the scoring in the second quarter with Izuchukwu crossing and Bill Johnston converting. However Connacht hit back shortly after through a Oisin McCormack try and Conor Fitzgerald conversion to take the score to 7 all at half time.

Connacht took the lead in the second half with Diarmuid Kilgallen getting a try for Fitzgerald to convert but Ulster pulled it back to a 2 point game as Sexton crossed out wide for his first try.

An unconverted try from Colm de Buitlear put Connacht back in front by seven as the game went into it’s final stages but Ulster managed to maintain their undefeated record with a late try from Sexton, converted by Johnston, to give a final score of Connacht 19 Ulster 19.
