AIL Women: Malone 17 Old Belvedere 21

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

Old Belvedere women went one step further than their men with a 17 – 21 win against Malone women at Gibson Park on a cold and dank Saturday evening.

Malone started the game strongly with leading the way as they kept Old Belvedere pinned in their own half for the bulk of the first quarter despite the visitors having a strong wind at their backs. The pressure told and Wilson sent through for their first unconverted try after 20 minutes.

Lauren Maginnes opens the scoring with a try out wide.

Malone kept up their quick tempo game and some strong running from , and Alexa Grudgings created space for Anna Standfield to send clear to score their second try out wide,  just past the half hour mark.

A somewhat chastened Old Belvedere  finally got their act together and a quick penalty saw their flyer Elise O’Byrne White break free minutes later for a long range try converted by to take the score to 10 – 7 as the teams changed ends.

Elise O’Byrne White breaks free for a crucial try at the end of the first half.

As in most of the games today, the team playing into the strong wind enjoyed the bulk of possession and Old Belvedere took full advantage with and both crossing for tries, expertly converted by Jackson in difficult conditions, pushing the score along to 10 – 21 midway through the second half.

Jemma Jackson’s kicking from the tee was ultimately to prove the difference between the two sides.

However, a sensational late break from Durkan saw the talented full back leave the defence for dead to rescue a well deserved losing bonus for Malone. Grudgings, who had her best game with the ball in hand, added the extras to finish the game.
