The newly formed Instonians U14 side and Lurgan U14’s met in the final of the Ulster Clubs Bowl Final at Meadowbank Sports arena on Saturday morning.
I missed the first few minutes as I was expecting access from Rainey Old boys but with the gates locle I had to scamper round to the Meadowbank access and I arrived just in time to catch Instonians No 14 Fred Patterson scampering over for the opening try. James Lewis added the extras to give Inst a 7 – 0 lead around the 5 minute mark.
In a tight game Lurgan began to get on top but some heroic defence from Instonians kept their line clear until Lurgan’s classy fullback Austin McAreavey found some space on the right to . . .
