We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

It was another adventure in hockey-land on Saturday morning with my first visit to the Carrickfergus Amphitheatre to cover local side Castle in their Ulster Senior Cup tie against Dromore.

The Senior Cup is held for teams in the three Provincial Senior Leagues in Ulster I believe and we picked up the competition in the Last 16 Round.

Big smile from Sarah Wilson who opened the scoring for Dromore against Castle on Saturday morning.

Dromore were quick off the mark with claiming the opening score, 6 minutes in, off a penalty corner. The visitors continued to apply pressure throughout the opening quarter and hit the post off a penalty stroke shortly after.

A rare break out by Castle in the first half.

Castle looked for a response but most of their breakouts were dealt with before they got into the final third and given the amount of possession that Dromore had I was somewhat surprised that the quarter ended without further score.

The home side began to work their way into the game throughout the second quarter though Dromore, once again, had the edge but they were unable to find the net, leaving the score at 0 – 1 as the teams changed ends.

Castle enjoyed their best period in the third quarter.

The Carrick side put in a strong shift in the third quarter and looked to be turning the game before Dromore’s got the final touch in a rare penalty corner to take the score to 0 – 2 by the end of the third quarter.

Rachel Sullivan got the vital second score to settle Dromore after a period of Carrick pressure.

Now trailing by two the home team continued to push forward but they were unable to breach the visitors defence. Dromore always looked that little bit sharper in attack and they ended the game well in control for a 0 – 2 win and a place in the Quarter Finals.

Dromore’s Rachel Sullivan and Sarah Wilson after the game.

It was an enjoyable game and we’ve well over 300 images in our gallery.
