BRA win 31-17 at Omagh Academy in the 2nd Round of the 2XV Schools Cup

On Saturday morning Belfast Royal Academy had the trip to Co Tyrone to play Omagh Academy in the 2nd round of the Schools 2XV Cup.

Academy started of quickly and took the lead after only 3 minutes when Ethan Pavlovic went over far out on the right, for Harry Norton to convert, and take a 7-0 lead.

Despite the majority of play it was Omagh who replied after 27 minutes with an unconverted try by Conor Hale.

Omagh failed to secure the kick off and moments later Academy had taken a 14-5 lead through a try and conversion by Norton to give Academy a 14-5 half time lead.

4 minutes into the 2nd half Norton got his 2nd try, which he converted to move Academy out to 21-5.

On 43 minutes Omagh replied with a Sam Beattie try, converted by Isaac Rainey to reduce the deficit to 21-12.

Academy’s pressure told and tries by Ben Anderson, on 50 minutes, and Matthew McQuiston on 60 minutes, moved Academy out of reach at 31-12.

Omagh had the final say with a Harvey King try.

With a 31-17 win Academy can look forward to a 3rd round tie.
