Malone Women hosted UL Bohemians in their first AIL League game at Gibson Park, on Saturday evening.

It proved to be a torrid time for the Belfast women. They conceded 12 tries and one conversion from a very well drilled ‘Bohs’, who were relentless in their quest for scores.
To their credit Malone never gave up and were unlucky not to get a consolation score when they were held up in goal after pressing the ‘Bohs’ line for some time.
The visitor’s Chloe Pearse was a constant threat with the young veteran scoring five tries for the red machine. Laura Sheehan chipped in with a brace and Caoimhe Tiernan, Ciara Griffin, Clodagh O’Halloran, Kate Sheehan, and Sarah Quin also crossed the whitewash. Nicole Fitzgerald added the single conversion.
It was a tough baptism in the AIL for Malone, who were unfortunate to face the “Team of the Decade” in their opening match, but they will have better days than this in the season to come.
