Ontario Blues complete series win against Ulster age grade sides.

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

Ontario Blues and Ulster Rugby age grade sides went head to head, for the second time, at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown, Sports Arena on Wednesday.

Ulster mixed it up from Saturdays encounters at Newforge and Malone RFC with Schools Select Sides playing at U16 and U17 level, as opposed to Club Select previously, and at U18 level the Club Select Side replaced the Schools team.

Ulster U18 Women continued their build up for the upcoming Interprovincial Series with a second outing against Ontario Blues U18 Women.

The results from the four matches were as follows.

Ulster Schools U1622 – 22Ontario Blues U16
Ulster Schools U1717 – 12Ontario Blues U17
Ulster Club U1817 – 31Ontario Blues U18
Ulster Rugby U18 Girls 7 – 12Ontario Blues U18 Girls

It was another good work out for the Ulster sides against physically imposing sides who brought power and pace in abundance. The coaches had a good look at their charges before the boys interprovincial series kicks off this week and the girls the week after.

The matches were entertaining and competitive and could have went either way, the Club U18 boys game being decided by a late breakaway by Ontario as Ulster were pushing for an equalising score.

Good rugby, competitive games and a bit of vocal support form the Canadian parents, what’s not to like.

It was also a chance for TeamFRU to look at our squad before the season starts and we’re pleased to announce that will be joining as a match photographer after her successful outing in the first two matches of the afternoon. 🙂
