We caught up with the Richardson Plate FInal between Sullivan Upper and City of Armagh High Under 15 sides at Havelock Park on monday afternoon.
This was one of my favourite games of the schools finals, the first half largely featuring Sullivan Upper in attack and Armagh defending resolutely. Trying to cover this game at the Armagh goal end all I could hear was the whack of the shot quickly followed by a deeper thud as Armagh’s keeper got his pads to shot after shot. It was a game within a game.
The rest of the Armagh side defended resolutely scrambling away the many rebounds and they occasionally relieved the pressure with a few breaks. Both defences worked hard and the teams turned round with the score still at 0 – 0.
