We caught up with the entertaining Medallion Plate Final between Campbell College and Ballymena Academy at Carrickfergus Grammar on Friday afternoon.
Campbell had a strong start to the game with a well worked try as Isaac Webster finished off a sustained period of pressure in the Ballymena 22. Fergus Bevan added the extras for a 7 – 0 lead.
Captain Tom Osborne was next to score as Campbell increased their lead to 14 – 0, 18 minutes in, after Bevan’s conversion.
Ballymena got on scoresheet four minutes later with a successful penalty from Mason McNeill and they were right back in the hunt minutes later as Daniel Mullen finished off a driving maul, in the corner, to take the score to 14 – 8.
A breakout try from Ballymena center Tom McAuley gave Ballymena a 14 – 15 lead after Mullen added the conversion.
