On Saturday afternoon a Belfast Harlequins Select XV, featuring a few ‘old hands’ and some very inexperienced players, met Bishopton, from Renfrewshire, Scotland, who play in West of Scotland Division One. Some of the Bishopton players conceded that they may have overindulged the hospitality on the previous evening. On a hot afternoon the game was played over 3 x 30 minute periods.

Bishopton settled first gaining a 5 metre scrum. No 8 Peter Rainey charged over for an unconverted try and a 5-0 lead, after 7 minutes.
Quins found their form and Jack Reynolds scored, wide on the left, after 12 minutes to tie the score 5-5.
