I caught up with the Championship 1 mid table clash between CIYMS and City of Derry at Belmont on Saturday afternoon.
CIYMS starter the game 3 places and 9 points behind their visitors in Championship 1 but after consecutive wins against Dromore and Carrick the home team were hoping to close the gap.
In an intense but scrappy opening it was CI who took the lead with Paddy Beverland opening the scoring with an 8 minute penalty to take the score to 3 – 0.
Derry wer determine to throw the ball about, with varying success, but it all clicked seven minutes later to send Jamie Millar over for their opening try to take the ecor to 3 – 7 after Alex McDonnell added the conversion.
