International Friendly: Ireland 0 Wales 2

I caught up with the Men’s International Friendly last night between Ireland and Wales at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club as the teams began their preparations for the Euro Championships II at Banbridge towards the end of July.

The game saw first senior international caps awarded to Ireland’s Louis Rowe and Wales’ Owen Sutton and Jonny Fleck.

The teams took a while to sound each other out in an even first quarter which ended 0 – 0. Ireland looked to be getting on top in the second quarter, in terms of territory and possession, but the Welsh defence kept their chances to a minimum and the visitors seemed content to soak it up and look for a quick break.

Wales’ Jack Pritchard pulls away after placing the ball past Ireland’s keeper for the opening score.

Sure . . .
