Junior Shield: Belfast Harlequins 13 Randalstown 0

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

On a damp, soggy Sunday afternoon, Belfast Harlequins, sponsored by Charles Hurst Citroën, hosted Randalstown for the inaugural fixture in the newly branded ReJenerate Cup!

In a tit-for-tat affair with both sides camped in between the 22s for the first 20 minutes, this game was never going to be one sided! Excellent sniping runs from the Quins scrum half forged the team forward and along with the link up between fly half and 12 , the back line where able to get the distribution going, however Randalstown were always quick to clamp down on any developing moves which frustrated the home side!

The stalemate broke however when debutant crashed over off a cheeky pick and go at the base of a ruck on the 5m line to score a 5 pointer before the break, conversion went begging and the half time scoreline remained 5-0 to the home side!

Second half saw a resurgence from Randalstown who put the pressure on through some good offloading in the tackle and piercing runs through the middle, but they were never able to truly capitalise on the ground gained with ruck General, Laura Johnson (capt) putting in a massive work rate at the break down turning over ball!

Big carries from and meant the Randalstown defence had plenty of work to do, however they produced excellent cover defence when winger was just snuffed out at the last meter!

It didn’t take long to seal the deal however as Hutchinson crashed over (after 2 held up attempts) for the crucial score taking it to 10-0 … and a cheeky last minute penalty by Laffin put some icing on the cake!

Final score: Belfast Harlequins 13 Randalstown 0

An exciting game for all there present and a great way to kick off the league for Harlequins who face local rivals Lisburn away on the 29th of January!
