Schools Friendly: Royal Belfast Academical Institution 28 Coleraine Grammar 14

I caught up with RBAI and Coleraine Grammar School on Saturday morning for an entertaining 1st XV friendly match at Osborne Park.

Inst started with all guns blazing and after a couple of attacking lineouts in the Coleraine 22 hooker James Clarke found the line at the back of a powerful maul by the home side. Matthew Sweetlove added the extras to give RBAI a 7 – 0 lead after 3 minutes.

Coleraine were on the back foot for most of the first quarter, with their defence constantly under pressure, but, just as it looked like they were going to weather the early storm without further damage up popped Bryn Ward to wrestle away a loose ball and dive over the line close . . .
