Last night Randalstown Women met Queens Women on a mild, windless night at Queens Arena in a Women’s Premier League game.
Randalstown seemed to have the edge in early encounters but it was Queens, who took the lead after 13 minutes when Alyssa Jebb struck following a penalty corner. Jess McMaster doubled the lead from open play a minute later to give Queens a 2-0 1st quarter lead.

Queens continued to press but were rewarded with a solitary Claire Whiteside strike after 27 minutes. Queens lead 3-0 at halftime.
After the break Queens hit a purple patch. McMaster scored after 32 minutes, followed by Sophie McDowell, 2 minutes later, for Queens to lead 5-0.
Following a penalty corner Randalstown pulled one back, through Alex Graham after 40 minutes, only for McMaster to complete her hat trick a minute later. Queens lead 6-1.

Ellie Montgomery scored a seventh Queens goal after 44 minutes to complete a 7-1 3rd quarter lead.
A scoreless 4th quarter saw Randalstown lay siege to the Queens goal with a seemingly endless series of penalty corners. The Queens defense held firm.
The 7-1 victory was a very fair reflection of Queens dominance. One can only feel for the frustration of the Randalstown coaches.
