Towns Cup: Ballynahinch II 35 Banbridge II 12

The drizzle had stopped by the time that I had parked my car at Ballymacarn for a 1st Round Towns Cup Tie between Ballynahinch II and neighbours Banbridge II.

Ballynahinch settled quickest and after a series of forward drives, created space for Conor Philips to run in unopposed, wide out on the right, and a 5-0 lead.

Ballynahinch continued to pressure and stretch the Banbridge defence and on 12 minutes Ben McMullan found space in midfield and ran in from 40 metres. Matthew Norton’s conversion eased Ballynahinch out to 12-0.

Despite some enterprising play from both sides the score remained 12-0 at halftime.
