It’s an old sporting cliché, but Saturday morning’s Under 14 rugby match between Malone and Ballynahinch Under 14’s at Gibson Park was truly a game of two halves. Malone led 24 nil at half time with some great free flowing rugby with tries from Thomas Day, Ronan McConnell, Mitchell Stewart and Thomas Howe, two of which were converted by Conor Frazer.

Ballynahinch dug deep and scored 24 unanswered points in the second half to tie the match. Tries by Dylan McMullan, Sam Hamilton and Kevin Rogan, one converted by Joshua Woods set up Hinch for an unlikely comeback and when Lewis Connolly scored in the final moments, out half Woods showed nerves of steel to slot over his second conversion with the final kick of the game, from a difficult angle.

Unfortunately both teams choose to score at the opposite end of the pitch from our photographer. 🙁
