We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Queen’s Pirates defeated King’s Scholars 28 – 19 in a Varsity match at the Dub, Upper Malone on Wednesday evening.

The game featured enlarged squads from QUBRFC III’s “The Pirates” and Stranmillis College.

Queen’s took the game to Scholars from kick off and a forward drive saw dive under the posts for a try, converted by , after 3 minutes.

The Pirates consolidated their position with tries by after 14 minutes and after 22 minutes, both converted by Martin. The 21 – 0 score line didn’t reflect play, but rather Queens ability to score on the break.

Scholars got back into the game after 30 minutes when scored close to the posts, converted by , leaving the Pirates 21 – 7 ahead at half time.

A raft of substitutions resulted in more broken play after the break. This seemed to suit Scholars, who scored an unconverted try, through Tony O’Hagan, on 55 minutes.

Play fluctuated between the ‘22s’ until a third Scholars try, this one from Curley, following a fine break from the half way line, after 75 minutes. Curley converted his own try, to leave the game finally balanced at 21 – 19, in Queens favour.

Scholars failed to secure the subsequent kick off and Queen’s drove forward with McLernon claiming the decisive score, converted by Martin, after 76 minutes.

Scholars continued to press but to no avail. Queen’s ran out worthy victors, 28 – 19, in a very entertaining game.
