We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Reports that this match was abandoned because was smashing too many of the Welsh around with her hard as nails tackling is a bit of an exaggeration, but only a bit!

The official version is that Scottish referee called the game off at half-time for health and safety reasons, with the pitch hardening in the freezing temperatures but unofficial reports to the Front Row Union tell us that it was the tackling of the formidable trio of Ulster starlet Baxter, Ulster veteran  and Munster legend , that had the referee reaching for the smelling salts at the break!

Ireland started strongly and, roared on by a big home crowd, dominated the opening exchanges. Despite enjoying the bulk of possession it was well towards the end of the opening quarter before Baxter and combined to create space for winger . The Highfield flier still had plenty to do but she outpaced the defence and finished close to the posts allowing Briggs to convert. Ireland 7  Wales 0.

Wales upped the tempo and Ireland relaxed, allowing the visitors back in the game, forcing the home side to defend doggedly throughout the second quarter. Despite having a player binned late on Wales managed to pull back three points with a well struck penalty but Ireland responded deep into injury time with Briggs slotting over a penalty with the final kick of the half.

With player safety paramount, the decision was taken at half time to halt proceedings prematurely. The match result does not stand, a replay was offered for tomorrow but Wales declined.

The Six Nations sub-committee will meet next week to set a date for a replay between the teams at the same County Meath venue.
