Interprovincial: U19’s record late win against Munster

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. After their defeat by Leinster U19 on Saturday, Ulster U19 came back from behind twice to defeat Munster Schools 13 – 11 at Bangor Grammar School on Wednesday 21st August.

Playing into the teeth of a cold driving wind Ulster’s defence held firm conceding just two penalty goals in a half where Munster held sway in territory and possession.

They would have delighted to go into half time only 0 – 6 down.

Within a couple of minutes of the restart, a break, fast recycled ball from a couple of rucks and quick hands in the backs allowed Callum Davidson to go over wide out for an unconverted try.

Play was very even until mid way through the half when an overthrown lineout ball was won by Tom Stewart, who broke free and found Conor McKee, who ran in unopposed, to score an unconverted try in the corner to give Ulster a 10 – 6 lead.

With under 10 minutes left Munster ground out a series of rucks and pick and goes to get close to the line. When the ball was flashed along the backs they scored an unconverted try mid way out.

For the last 5 minutes Ulster were camped on the Munster line and eventually Munster conceded a penalty in front of the posts.

Reece Malone converted the penalty goal and Ulster held on for a nervy few seconds for a 13 – 11 win.
