Schools: Campbell College v RS Armagh (Match abandoned)

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

From the kick off Campbell failed to reach the 10m line and the scrum was set on the halfway. Three phases later Armagh had a penalty close to the Campbell try line but kicked for the corner and from there mauled their way over the Campbell line for their first try, unconverted.

No mistake from the restart this time and Campbell were deep in Armagh territory – quick series of plays mixing punch line breaks and close quarter pick and go before going in under the posts to take the lead 7-5.

Campbell continued the pressure and soon were awarded a penalty in front of the posts which was slotted home.

Armagh dug in and went in for their second try with a well worked move out wide and the right wing picked the pass up from his toes and dotted down in the corner with the conversion attempt hitting the post.

CCB attacked again and through an excellent centre break the ball was shifted at speed for their right wing to score. Conversion attempt missed and the score at half time was 12-10 to Campbell.

The see saw nature of this match continued in the second half with each team adding further points, each team having a man in the bin.

The game was finely balanced at 22-18 to Armagh with a few mins left and Campbell in full attack, just feet from the Armagh line looking for the wining score.

However the contest was abruptly stopped by the referee and the match abandoned after an accidental serious injury to an Armagh player.

Both sets of players behaved in an exemplary fashion respecting the decision of the referee to call the game a no result.

The FRU wish a speedy recovery to the young Armagh player from his injury.
