On Friday evening Instonians faced City of Armagh in an Ulster Senior Cup Group B fixture at Shawsbridge. A cold breeze blew down the pitch, initially in Armagh’s favour.
Armagh put Instonians on the backfoot from kick off. Eventually Instonians gained some territory, when a penalty gave them a lineout 15 metres out.

A clever lineout move saw David Whitten gain position and power for the line to score in the right corner. Josh Eagleson nailed the conversion from the narrow angle to put Instonians 7-0 up on 8 minutes.
Defences largely cancelled each other out until Ross Taylor found space to get over, having broken some tackles. Shea O’Brien’s conversion had the sides tied at 7 all, after 21 minutes.
Halftime was reached at 7-7.
