I caught up with the AIL 2C clash between, table toppers, Instonians and Sligo at a busy Shaw’s Bridge on a pleasant autumnal Saturday afternoon.
It looked like was going to be a bit of a cake walk for the home side as they racked up 14 points without reply in the first 15 minutes. It wasn’t pretty but it was effective as hooker Oli Clarke finished off two driving mauls in the early stages. Matthew Keane converted both to give Instonians a 14 – 0 lead.
However, Sligo stemmed the tide and they worked themselves into the Instonians 22 for their scrum half, Brendan Cunningham to snipe over for a well taken try after 25 mins. Out half Euan Brown added the extras to take the acore to 14 – 7.
