Kyriacou for Cardiff!

News has reached FRU Headquarters that Andi Kyriacou is to leave Ulster at the end of the season and join Cardiff Blues.

In a sudden decision Kyriacou, who has a young family, is thought to be leaving primarily for family reasons though his lack of consistent game time at Ulster Rugby is also thought to be part of the reason.

Kyriacou who joined Ulster in the 2009-10 season has racked up 55 appearances for the province, however only 25 of those appearance have been as a starter and with Rory Best in top form over the last season Kyriacous chances to shine have been few and far between.

The move now means that one of Ulster’s genuine positions of strength could look decidedly threadbare next season with the futures of Nigel Brady and Niall Annett still undecided, though this move will more than likely mean that Annett now stays in the province.

I’ll be sorry to see Andi go and I always though that he offered enough to nail down the position of back up to Best in the match day squad.  However the management viewed it differently and the constant rotation between Kyriacou and Brady did neither . . .
