The fifth Ulster Hockey club final at Stormont on Saturday featured Bangor 3rd XI and Saintfield 2nd XI in the men’s Junior Shield.
Both teams set their stalls out early in this one, Bangor looked to control territory and possession and Saintfield were content to harry and harass in defence and look for a quick break.
After stalemate in the opening quarter, it was Saintfield’s tactics that paid off first when Alex Millar slammed in the opening goal about 25 minutes in to give Saintfield a 0 – 1 lead which they took into the second half.
