Will David McGuigan get a surprise call into the Ravens this weekend?

With International call ups, an Ulster Senior fixture and a couple of injuries to the back row panel could the Leinster A v Ulster Ravens match be an opportunity for our “4-2 Follow” to get a run out at Donnybrook on Saturday afternoon. KO 1.00pm.

With Patrick Jackson, Iain Henderson and Craig Gilroy starting last week in Ireland’s U20 win against Italy it would seem probable that they’ll be involved this weekend, the only doubt being whether David McGuigan has got enough game time under his belt, since his injury against Leinster U20’s, to join them. By all accounts the Lurgan youngster put in an impressive 20 minute cameo for Queens last weekend so he may just slip in.

Of course the other option could be that Gilroy and/or Jackson could be called up into the senior squad, with Gilroy the more probable, depending on who’s returned to Ulster from the Ireland Squad. Certainly the Dungannon pair were under close scrutiny last weekend with David Humphreys and Brian McLaughlin in Stevenson Park for Dungannons 21 – 18 win over Lansdowne in the All Ireland League, though other reports suggest that the Ulster Top Brass were up having another look at Lansdowne’s David Kearney.

With a lot of players missing for both Ulster and Leinster this A Inter-pro looks like it’ll be an ideal opportunity to have a look a both Provinces youngsters. The game kicks off at 1:00pm so if you’re down in Dublin for the Ireland New Zealand match why not get yourself along to Donnybrook and cheer the boys on.
