Overhead and underfoot conditions were challenging for the visit of Queens University to Gibson Park to face Malone in a Women’s Junior Cup Semi Final. With water pooling on the main pitch, the game was moved to an adjacent pitch, which afforded little shelter for spectators. A deceptive wind blew down the pitch initially in Malone’s favour.
Following a forward rumble by Queens and the ball was passed out to Victoria Lee, who scored in the right corner to put Queens 5-0 up after 3 minutes.
Malone replied on 11 minutes, when Sarah Murphy got over. Laura Claridge converted and Malone led 7-5.
