We caught up with the Championship 1 clash between Portadown and CIYMS at Champbers Park on Saturday afternoon.
CI started the game with some intent and, after 10 minutes of sustained pressure in the Portadown 22, Mark Scott twisted his way over the try line for the opening score. Jack Bonner added the extras to give CI a 0 – 7 lead.
Portadown were level four minutes later as Jamie Marshall hit the line under some pressure from the CI defence. Niall Davidson added the extras to tie the game 7 – 7 after 15 minutes.
CI’s Scott Finlay was next to scores as he bundled over in the corner off a lineout move to take the score to 7 – 12.
The game settled down for 10 minutes but a late flourish from Portadown pushed the game firmly in their favour. . . .
