Late Saturday afternoon, when the international had cleared, Enniskillen met Malone in the Women’s Junior Cup Final at Kingspan Stadium.
Malone took control from kick of pinning Enniskillen back deep into their own half. Enniskillen broke up a Malone attack and fed the ball wide, on the right. Sophie Meeke was put into space and outpaced a despairing Malone defence to score in the right corner, after 11 minutes for a 5-0 lead.
Malone responded camping in the Enniskillen half. Despite the lion’s share of possession, they couldn’t break down a robust Enniskillen defence. With Enniskillen very rarely out of their own half, they withstood wave, after wave of Malone pressure.
