AIL1B: Queen’s University 10 University College Cork 41

On Saturday University College Cork had the long trip up to Belfast to play Queens in an afternoon AIL1B fixture at Queens Arena. This was a crucial game for Queens, who languished 2nd from bottom, in 9th place, in AIL1B, against UCC, a place above them.

UCC controlled the game from kick off, taking the lead, through a Billy Kiernan penalty goal, after 8 minutes, for a 3-0 lead.

Matters got worse for Queens on 12 minutes, when Louis Bruce ran through a fracturing Queens defence to dot down close to the posts. Kiernan’s conversion moved UCC out to 10-0.
