Due to a delayed kick off and the need to leave earlier due to roadworks on the M2 I only caught the first half of the Club U18 Plate Final between Rainey Old Boys RFC and Letterkenney RFC on Saturday morning at Meadowbank Sports Arena.
The two teams were chomping at the bit bu the time they got on the pitch for this one but it was the “home side” Rainey that had the better of the opening exchanges running in a try after 4 minutes from their outside centre.
Seven minutes later a nice line out and quick hands saw the Rainey right wing go over for their second which was converted to give Rainey a 12 – 0 lead and it looked like it was going to be a long day for Letterkenny!
