On Saturday afternoon, I moved down to the Queen’s Arena to take in the 2nd half of Queen’s AIL 2B clash with Blackrock.
It was remarkably quiet, on the pitch below, when I was covering the hockey. When I got down, I realised why! Queen’s were down 7-24 at halftime.
Rogan McMahon, Liam McMahon, Peter Quirke & Matthew Cosgrove tries and 2 Quirke conversions gave Blackrock a commanding lead. Queen’s solitary reply was an Alexander Clarke try, converted by Ritchie McMaster.
Playing against the elements, which were deteriorating by the minute, Blackrock extended their lead on 45 minutes with a Quirke penalty goal to lead 7 – 27.
