All Ireland League 2B: Queens 29 Blackrock 30

, , ,

On Saturday afternoon, I moved down to the Queen’s Arena to take in the 2nd half of Queen’s AIL 2B clash with Blackrock.

It was remarkably quiet, on the pitch below, when I was covering the hockey. When I got down, I realised why! Queen’s were down 7-24 at halftime.

Rogan McMahon, Liam McMahon, Peter Quirke & Matthew Cosgrove tries and 2 Quirke conversions gave Blackrock a commanding lead. Queen’s solitary reply was an Alexander Clarke try, converted by Ritchie McMaster.

Jack Boal opened the scoring for Queens in the 2nd half

Playing against the elements, which were deteriorating by the minute, Blackrock extended their lead on 45 minutes with a Quirke penalty goal to lead 7 – 27. . . .
