Grosvenor and Queens II contested the McCrea Cup Final on Saturday evening at the Kingspan Stadium.
Grosvenor opened the scoring, when Timmy McMullan’s monster penalty, from just inside the Queens’ half, cleared the bar with metres to spare for a 3-0 lead.

Jack Breen was, on hand, to finish off a sweeping move, diving in on the left for an unconverted try after 27 minutes to take Grosvenor out to 8-0.
Queens pressure yielded a penalty, converted by Angus Christie to reduce the arrears to 8-3, before another McMullan penalty restored Grosvenor’s lead to 11-3.
Despite losing a man to a yellow card, Queens pressure won a penalty on the ‘22’. Taken quickly by Christie, he moved through a static Grosvenor defence for a well taken try, on 40 minutes, which he converted, leaving Grosvenor leading 11-10 at the break.
Now playing into a strengthening, cool breeze, Grosvenor consolidated their lead with a Mitchell McComb try, converted by McMullan and with another McMullan penalty, Grosvenor were two scores ahead at 21-10.

Peter Heasley’s 75th minute try for Queens ensured a frantic 5 minutes for the Grosvenor defence.
Grosvenor held out for a 21-15 victory.
