On Sunday Belfast Harlequins met Co Cavan, at Deramore Park, in the quarter final of the Ulster Women’ Junior Cup.

In early exchanges a large, mobile Co Cavan pack dominated proceedings, driving Quins back at nearly every collision. On 11 minutes this domination paid dividends, when Bridget Reynolds drove over for Cavan’s opening try.

Play was largely in the Quins half and after 27 minutes Sarah Teague found a gap to run in under the posts. Kate Bartley converted to given Cavan a 12-0 lead.

Four minutes later Teague added another try as Cavan’s domination continued. In the final move of the first half Lisa Smith found space to wriggle over in the right corner to given Cavan a 22-0 halftime lead.
Play was more even after the break but Quins never really threatened the Cavan line. After 50 minutes Lauren O’Riordan went over under the posts. Bartley converted to move Cavan’s lead on to 29-0.
With no further scoring Cavan deservedly move into the Women’s Junior Cup Semi Final.
