On Saturday afternoon Malone met St Marys College in a AIL1B clash at Gibson Park.

In a low scoring 1st half, Malone took the lead on 16 minutes with a Aidan McSwiggan try. Four minutes later Conor Dean’s penalty goal reduced arrears to 5-3.

There was no further scoring before halftime.
Malone were fastest out of the blocks in the 2nd half. Ben McCaughey’s 46 minute try was converted by Rory Campbell and the lead was increased again with David McMaster’s 54th minute try, for a 17-3 lead.
Malone seemed to have the game sewn up, but St Mary’s reduced the deficit when Richie Halpin’s 64th minute try was converted by Dean to bring the game back to 17-10.

Malone seemed to have survived but one last effort from St Mary’s resulted in an 80th minute try by Craig Kennedy. Dean landed the conversion to earn St Mary’s a 17-17 draw.
