At Saturday lunchtime Portadown and Queens met at Edenvilla Sports Complex, Portadown, in an Ulster Premier League game.
In a high scoring 1st quarter, Queens took the lead on 4 minutes, when Philip Campbell scored from close range. Portadown replied 2 minutes later when Ross Beattie scored to level the game.
Matthew Thompson’s strike after 10 minutes, followed by a 2nd Campbell goal gave Queens a 3-1 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.
Despite Queens pressure the 2nd quarter was scoreless, leaving Queens with a 3-1 halftime lead.
Portadown responded in the scoreless 3rd quarter forcing a number of saves from the Queens’ keeper.
