Club Youth: Ballyclare 0 Malone 48 U18 Regional East

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

We tried to cover three U18 Club matches on Saturday but, unfortunately, this was the only one that was played.

On a dull morning in Ballyclare, a depleted Ballyclare side (having to borrow 2 opposition players) took on Malone.

Despite the gloom, the opening exchanges were bright enough, with Malone having the edge in both possession and territory. The opening score finally came in the 14th minute when Malone’s went over.

The next quarter of an hour was a similar pattern with Malone doing most of the pressing, but stepped it up a gear in the last 10 minutes of the half, going over another 4 times before half-time to finish the game off as a contest. The first from , and then the lively , which was converted by to take the score to 0-17.

Malone’s then went over, again converted by Thornton. Finally, a panicked clearance kick from Ballyclare was excellently grabbed in both hands by Cox who went over under the posts for his second try of the half to take the half-time score to 0 – 31 in Malone’s favour.

The second half kicked off to a brief glimpse of sunshine, but the clouds soon returned at Ballyclare after 10 minutes as Malone’s Martin got his second score to stretch the lead to 36 unanswered points.

Malone’s got in on the act soon after and the rout was rounded off shortly after when Malone’s showboated the grounding and took the dropkick conversion himself to round off the scoring.

A depleted Ballyclare side who to their credit fought hard to the end, were simply outclassed by a Malone side once they got into gear.
