AIL Women: Old Belvedere 73 Ballincollig 0

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

The big scorelines keep coming in the Women’s All Ireland League as the teams look to sort themselves out post lockdown. In the first game of Round 4 Old Belvedere put 73 past a disjointed Ballincollig, Belvo youngster stealing the show with five of Belvo’s 13 tries.

All smiles for Belvo’s Clare Gorman as she runs in the last of her five tries against Ballincollig on Saturday.

I was asked after the game what I though of Ballincollig’s performance and they weren’t as far off the pace as the scoreline suggests. I said at the time they didn’t reload very well but I suppose resetting after each phase would have been a better description as they tended to become disorganised after a few phases and Belvo were ready and waiting to take advantage with pulling the strings.

Young Gorman, in only her 5th game for Belvo, opened the scoring after a few minutes chasing down a kick through by Jackson after a scrappy clearance from Ballincollig and six minutes later she crossed for her second after a turnover. Fellow winger got in on the act at the start of the second quarter and Victoria O’Mahony, and Grace Miller all crossed to give Belvo a 32 – 0 lead at the end of the first half, Jackson converting the last score.

Belvo’s Laura Carty slides home for her hat-trick try against Ballincollig on Saturday

It was the Gorman and Carty show in the second half as Gorman ran in three more and Carty two, all of the scores coming from deep as Farrell, and exploited Ballincollig’s disorganisation. The two wingers filled their boots, scoring 8 tries between them over the game though and Oonagh Hynes also got in on the act in the second half with a try each.

Old Belvedere’s Oonagh Hynes breaks from deep for a second half try against Ballincollig.

It was a tough day at the office for Ballincollig, who had their moments, and I’m sure under the stewardship of , that they’ll bounce back.
