Dungannon Women entertained Cavan Women in an early season friendly on Saturday evening at Stevenson Park.
The game gave Cavan a useful hit out ahead of their debut in the Women’s Community Series this coming weekend.
There was no score in a scrappy first half with the play centered largely in a congested midfield around the half way line.
Things opened up in the second half with Telicha Hutton touching down out wide after a good break down the right wing by Dungannon. The conversion from the touch line was short.
The score seemed to concentrate Cavan’s efforts and they replied almost immediately with a penalty try after Kerry Morgan was taken out close to the line.
Dungannon looked for a response but they were unable to break through the Cavan defence and tries from Lisa Smith and Morgan in the last 10 minutes wrapped up the game for the visitors. Smith converted both to give Cavan a 5 – 21 win in a useful workout for both sides.
